Vince Martell of the Vanilla Fudge

Years ago I got a phone call from Vince Martell from the great band
THE VANILLA FUDGE. It was a trip because when I was a kid I
used to listen to all their recordings. The drummer Carmine Appice
was a huge influence on John Bohnam. They were innovative for the
time. He got my name from the music union. I was surprised he
didn't call Peter Frampton who was also in the same union. He wanted
me to go on the road. At the time I was busy performing and
teaching, so I had to turn it down. He told me he was living in a house
boat on the Hudson river which I thought was cool. He told me he
jammed at the Hit Factory with Jimi Hendrix and the tape was
running. I would love to hear that tape! Last year I saw the reunion
of  THE VANILLA FUDGE and Vince Martell's singing was great.
I have to split for now. Later.
